AAUW’S GREEN ELEPHANT BOOTH @ BOYD COMMUNITY CENTER GARDENFEST, Saturday, May 12 fro 9 AM to 2 PM

AAUW & Boyd Center Fundraiser- STOP BY AND SHOP

Support our booth at the Community Gardenfest on May 12, 2012. We will be selling “Everything for the Gardener, but the Plants” and our custom designed note card series: florals, foliage and Pittsburgh scenes. You may donate items to sell, up until Friday, May 4 by delivering them to Pat Kennedy’s home.  We accept NEW or CLEANED and GENTLY USED items that a gardener might use in the garden, (pots, tools, tool bucket, knee pads, boots, books, hand cream, etc.) or enjoy because of being a gardener, like jewelry, clothing, decorations, etc. that have a floral design.

Please volunteer to assist at our booth during one of the one-hour intervals from 9:00 AM – 2:00. (Or assist with set-up starting at 7:30 AM, or clean-up after 2:00 PM)Contact Janet Ummer about your availability.

3RD ANNUAL CARD PARTY BENEFIT & POT LUCK LUNCHEON- JUNE 6

Calling all AAUW members and members of the public to sign up for our next big fund raiser – the Card Party Benefit Luncheon to be held on Wednesday, June 6, 11 AM-3 PM in the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church Atrium

Please ask your friends to join you at a table of four for a pot luck lunch and an afternoon of cards and fellowship.  Some will want to play bridge, others pinochle, euchre, canasta or even a board game like Scrabble, but all are welcome.  There will be a prize for the day’s winner at each table.  A reserved table of four is $100 ($25 per player).  If you can’t get four together and would like to be placed with other singles, it will be $35 per person.  Members, not guests, are asked to bring a covered dish for the luncheon if possible, but this is not required to play.  There will also be a small teacup auction if we get enough items donated – see below.

If you can’t take part on June 6 (or even if you can) we are asking for donations for prizes and maybe a teacup auction.  Items can be dropped off to Nancy Middleton by June 1.  Please call first to arrange a drop off time.  The following types of items are suggested:  gently read books you think other women would enjoy, books on CD, DVDs (chick flicks preferred) or music CDs, stationary, note cards, Colognes, shampoos, body wash or lotions, small gourmet foods, homemade breads, cookies or candies.  Save larger household, Christmas and other white elephant type items for our Holiday Silent Auction in December.  We will be selling our special note cards designed by Nancy Weinstein.

Proceeds benefit our branch education fund.  There will be a sign-up sheet for helpers needed for the event at the May meeting or please contact Janice Barrington to serve on the committee.  Start inviting your friends and planning your tables now!  You don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
